Job Description
PROJECT CONTEXT
As part of the Global Market Access Programme (GMAP) SAP 180025, concluded between UNIDO and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) in January 2020, a national project for Mozambique, the "Market Access for Mozambican Aquaculture Products (MAMAP)", to support the development of the aquaculture value chain for market access by strengthening the quality and compliance capacity of the sector in Mozambique. The project focuses on aquaculture and fisheries, an important sector with great potential in the country. The project addresses the challenges related to quality along the aquaculture value chain to access local, regional and international markets.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The Gender Specialist will work under the overall guidance of the Project Manager, the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) and the Project Administrator to support the development and finalization of the Gender Strategy for the Fisheries and Aquaculture Value Chain in Mozambique, with responsibility for conducting a comprehensive analysis of the fisheries and aquaculture value chain with a focus on gender equality and empowerment of women in the sector. Specifically, and in close collaboration with industry/sector specialists, the Gender Specialist will carry out the following duties: Organization, Coordination, Research, Review and Planning among others.
Requirements & Skills
MINIMUM ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Academic background: Hold an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Social or Natural Sciences or another relevant discipline with a specialization in human development, gender mainstreaming or sustainable development.
Technical and functional experience
The Gender Specialist must:
- Have at least five (5) years of professional experience in the field of gender equality and gender mainstreaming at national level;
- Have experience of interacting with the fisheries and aquaculture sector;
- Have training in gender analysis and proven experience in integrating gender into projects and programs, especially in the fisheries and aquaculture sector;
- Have in-depth knowledge of the gender context in Mozambique and experience of working with government institutions and international or non-governmental organizations that support gender and aquaculture work.
